Fencing in Dunnington
Garden fencing in Dunnington, from plain closeboard to arched panels with trellis tops. The fence in the photo is one we fitted in the village: decorative panels that give privacy at the patio without feeling like a wall. We clear the old fence, concrete in new posts and can add a matching gate on the same visit.

Privacy without a solid wall
Dunnington sits east of York off the A166, on the way to Stamford Bridge. Our job in the village shows how a fence can do more than mark a line: arched panels with a lattice trellis along the top, screening a paved seating area while still letting the light through.
Every fence we fit sits on posts concreted into the ground, with gravel boards at the base where the style allows. Decorative panels are no exception, and they are fixed just as firmly as a plain boundary.
We dismantle the old fence and take it away, along with any old concrete that is in the way.

Dunnington fencing questions
Does trellis on top of a fence need planning permission?
The trellis counts towards the overall height. Up to 2 metres in total in a back garden is normally fine without permission. Dunnington has a conservation area, so if your home is inside it, check with City of York Council first.
Do decorative panels give as much privacy?
Arched and trellis-topped panels are solid for most of their height, so you keep privacy at eye level. The open trellis is above that, letting in light and giving climbers somewhere to grow.
Can you fence around a patio or seating area?
Yes. Our Dunnington job screens a paved seating area. We set the posts around the paving and can lay a new patio at the same time if the old one needs replacing.
What happens to my old fence?
We take it down and remove it, along with any old post concrete that is in the way of the new line. It is all part of the job.
How do I ask for a price?
